The Flight to Africa

Because of technical issues Guy e-mailed me (Dee...his secretary!) things he had attempted to post. So, below are 3 postings he wrote while he was flying. We were able to connect on Friday evening through skype. It's so amazing how awesome technology is ...when it is working! He told me that while driving around on his first day he attempted to take pictures when our friend immediately pushed the camera down out of sight and said he shouldn't do that because their people are very sensitive about it. So, he has taken some pictures albeit as inconspicuous as he can... (if he takes any picture while gov officials are around he could actually get arrested!) He will have a better time with his camera when he goes out to the reservations! I'll keep posting as he sends them!

1) Note to self, planes are like movie theatres. In that they are inevitably cooler than they have to be. but the portions of food are much smaller on a plane. I've noticed a number of people who brought slippers. Approximately 14 hours of flight time, not a bad idea. Do they make travel slippers? Also a light travel jacket would be nice. Still two hours to arrival. I beat the computer at cribbage. (5:00 PM)

2) 9:00 eastern time; Thousand miles out over the Atlantic just past St John's, the tempature reads -61f. Just imagine, one hundred and sixty degrees difference from my destination. Just changed my watch to Amsterdam time, 6 hours ahead, 3AM now.

3) Flying over the Sahara now. Sand as far as the can see. Two hours ago it was the Swiss Alps. Timgad...have to look up that city. Between Algiers and Tunis. Ian Anderson,  Secret Language of Birds, song Boris Dancing is playing right now. Seems to fit the mood.
Femke, my stewardess surprised me with Bailys in my coffee. Think I'll play some cribbage on the Itouch to kill some time. Time here is 4:00 PM. Awake...Thirty two hours and counting.
